About Us
Life is like a cup of tea. It’s all about how you make it.
with love provides food for the soul. ‘Kitchen’ opened its doors to the residents of Pokesdown, Dorset in March 2015.
Head Chef Paul Lock and his team want you to enjoy his food: it’s down to earth, wholesome and nutritious and prepared with love.
Trained in London, Paul has catered for large corporate companies but prefers to cook in the café as if he was around at your house. He puts in the same care and effort, achieving the same quality whether he’s preparing breakfast for just yourself or a group of a hundred people.
And his team echo this philosophy throughout the week.
Pokesdown is a small, sought-after suburb of Bournemouth not far from Boscombe on the southwest coast of England. It’s very much a rejuvenated area, popular with dog walkers, children and surfers. The now shortened Boscombe pier and promenade is a pleasant saunter, the sandy beach is not too crowded and you can walk from Bournemouth Beach towards Hengistbury Head.
Kitchen is Pokesdown’s best new café, a local hidden gem. Kitchen prides itself on serving fresh local produce to the local community. Dogs and their owners are both welcome. The café’s stylish rustic interior reflects the eclectic mix of local antique shops, vintage fashions and variety of restaurants available along the Christchurch Road. There are free newspapers to browse every day. But it’s the passion with which the food is prepared and served which makes this café special.
The food is as local as you can get it – meat comes from Peter Treble Butchers of Westbourne and the coffee comes from Caffe Saporito, a specially roasted taste of Italy coming from Bournemouth for you to enjoy. We also offer their own delicious rich, indulgent drinking chocolate and a fabulous range of teas.
As one of our Trip Advisors sums up, Kitchen is “staffed by a passionate chef dedicated to providing good honest fare.” Try us!
